In sunny San Diego, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has released a beer called, appropriately enough, Follow The Sun Lager.
The light-bodied American lager – 4.2% AVB – has notes of crisp malt and a subtle hop bitterness and is a new core beer for the brewery. It is available on draft and in six packs of 12-oz cans at Karl Strauss’ five San Diego County locations in 4S Ranch, Carlsbad, Downtown, San Marcos (The Outpost beer garden), and Sorrento Mesa.
“The words ‘crisp,’ ‘clean,’ and ‘refreshing’ are thrown around a lot with lagers, but we really feel like we hit that trifecta with this beer,” Brewmaster Paul Segura said. “Karl has been a staple in San Diego in 1989, and Follow the Sun symbolizes our passion for sharing not only our craft, but a piece of the beautiful city we get to call home with people from all over.”
The beer’s launch also marks a change in Karl Strauss packaging. Follow the Sun will be joined by core beers Aurora Hoppyalis IPA, Boat Shoes Hazy IPA, and Tower X West Coast IPA in 12-oz cans later this spring.
Several restaurants, bars, and retailers are also carrying Follow the Sun. Karl Strauss’ Beer Finder displays all current locations where it’s available. Additionally, Follow the Sun will be available in 19.2-oz cans at select sports and music venues.
This is a very special year for Karl Strauss. It is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2024 and it will be releasing details later on future events to mark the occasion.
Last summer, Karl Strauss was voted as one of San Diego’s Best Craft Breweries in The San Diego Union-Tribune’s 2023 Readers Poll. Only 10 made the list. Karl Strauss also has brewpub locations in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Downtown Los Angeles, and Temecula.
