SanDiego County Fair & International Beer Festival
Thru July 4
Del Mar Fairgrounds
San Diego’s version of the county fair with rides, lots of food that is really bad for you (and is really good, too!), the San Diego International Beer Festival (for adults of course) plus concerts. Tickets are $20 on Fridays and Saturdays and $16 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (it’s dark on Mondays and Tuesdays). Times are 10 a.m.-11 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays, 10-10 on the other days.
Nat Diego Natural Wine Festival
Three Locations In San Diego
Three events with the highlight being Saturday’s Grand Tasting. The kickoff event is the 7 – 10 pm: Opening Party at the Secret Sister at The Rose Wine Bar + Bottle Shop (2215 30th St.) from 7-10 p.m., The Grand Tasting is at the at Bread and Salt (1955 Julian Ave.) from 1-5 p.m., and it wraps up with the Vino Carta Little Italy (2161 India St.) from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $60 for the Grand Tasting. Natural wine is made without additives or chemicals.
Balboa Park Twilight Concerts
June 21-Aug, 25, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Tuesdays-Thursdays)
Spreckles Pavillion, Balboa Park
A series of free concerts of all types of tribute bands on the pipe organ stage in Balboa Park. You can BYOB and sit on the adjacent lawn. Tribute bands include Santana and Elvis. Frankly these aren’t wild party events but are good for
Taste Of The Gaslamp
June 18, 1-4 p.m.
This event is a self-walking eating tour, of sorts, thru the Gaslamp at more than 40 restaurants, paired with music and art. Afterward, there’s a rooftop party at Altitude Lounge. Tickets are $30 in advance or you can opt for the VIP package ($70 advance, $80 day-of) that adds live music and artist demonstrations, beer and wine samples, nightclub specials, unique museum tours and discounts at local boutiques.
Taste Of Little Italy
June 21-22, 4-8 p.m.
If you love Italian food then you will love this festival. Held on a Tuesday and Wednesday, it showcases different restaurants, each just as delicious as the last. Plus the Italian village scene that is Little Italy. Check in at the Piazza della Famiglia and receive a Taste Passport. Then make your way each restaurant stop, taking away their “tastes” to enjoy at your leisure. For those who prefer to sit and enjoy the food and scene, seating is be available at the Piazza della Famiglia with live music at Piazza della Famiglia and Piazza Basilone. Tickets are $55 for two-hour time slots each evening.
Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off
June 25, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
A chili cook-off (duh!) starts things at 11 a.m., and later this event rocks “the OB” with three stages of bands and and the Beachside Beer garden, which is not just beer but wine and cocktails. There is a Hodad’s Burger Eating Contest. This is a free festival to enter.
