Shabu-Works is a Japanese buffet restaurant in San Diego.

Inspired by the success of its original location in Mira Mesa, the family-owned Shabu-Works is expanding to San Marcos.

Known for its premium “All You Can Eat” traditional Japanese-style Shabu-Shabu, the San Marcos restaurant presents an expanded selection to their already impressive offerings of premium cuts of Wagyu beef and more.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of our second Shabu-Works location in San Marcos, dedicated to serving the North County communities and beyond” said Peter Yang, Owner of Shabu-Works. “This new location allows us to reach more families to enjoy our unique shabu-shabu experience, along with our commitment to quality, value, and friendly service”

At Shabu-Works, diners select a broth for a hot pot with choices including Tonkatsu Pork Bone, Garlic Miso Tonkotsu, Spicy Miso, Spicy Curry, Sukiyaki, Sichuan Ma-La, The Mongolian, Spicy Tokyo, and three vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. Next, guests choose from a variety of premium meats, grass-fed, and USDA Choice items such as Angus Beef Belly, CAB Top Blade, US Wagyu Chuck Tender, US Wagyu Bottom Round, Angus Chuck Eye, Premium Eye Round, NZ Lamb Shoulder, Premium Pork Belly, Natural Pork Collar, and Natural Chicken Breast.

Shabu-Works also features a spread of fresh seafood including fresh crab, crawfish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. An array of fresh vegetables and other add-ons are also available, including napa cabbage, ramen noodles, fried fish cake, tofu, bok choy, and much more.

Shabu-Works’ hot and cold bar also features delicious items such as Teriyaki Chicken, Karaage Chicken, Japanese Curry, and Fried Rice. To complement the meal, the restaurant offers an extensive range of soft drinks and freshly brewed teas, as well as a curated list of alcoholic beverages, including Beer, Sake, and Soju. And don’t forget to indulge in the popular Bingsu Snow Bar for dessert!

The weekday lunch menu is priced at $27.95 per person, $8.99 for children ages 3-7, and $14.99 for children ages 8-12. The weekend lunch and dinner menu is priced at $37.95 per person, $8.99 for children ages 3-7, and $19.99 for children ages 8-12. And as always at Shabu-Works, you eat for free on your birthday/

San Diego locals and longtime restaurateurs, Peter Yang and Mike Wu, are brothers who grew up in the restaurant industry, working as dishwashers, busboys, servers, line cooks — you name it. They have since launched numerous concepts. In 2020, Mike was recognized by Fast Casual Magazine as one of the nation’s top 25 executives. In 2018, Peter was selected as the featured honoree of Forbes 30 Under 30, as one of the youngest and most prolific restaurateurs in the U.S.

“Food is immensely emotional. We always tell our team that our guests “eat” the moment they open the doors to our restaurants,” said Mike Wu, Co-Owner of Shabu-Works. “So, besides a freshly made, well-balanced dish, we make sure all other senses are addressed — hospitality, ambiance, the details matter! By marrying a remarkable dish with great vibes, we get to create lasting experiences for our guests.”

Starting in September, Shabu-Works San Marcos is located at 575 Grand Ave #100, San Marcos, CA 92078. Its website is: www.shabuworks.com.
