
Finding a $6 cocktial anywhere these days would seem to be a nearly impossible task, let alone a martini. Yet there is one in San Diego if you know where to go to get it.
Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine at the Pendry San Diego in the Gaslamp Quarter has “Martini Tuesdays.” The new weekly event has $6 martinis with the purchase of an entrée every Tuesdsay from 5-9 p.m. There are several options too: an espresso martini, a lemon drop martini, a dirty martini and a rotating selection starting with a passionfruit martini.
Lionfish offers a full menu of fresh-catch seafood, prime meats and locally sourced ingredients. The food is crafted by Executive Chef and James Beard Smart Catch leader Jose “JoJo” Ruiz. a native of San Diego. The menu include roasted truffle chicken with truffle butter, sourdough crust and chicken truffle jus; “angry” whole grilled fish with Thai basil, citrus, fermented chili, garlic butter sauce and grilled flatbread; and 36-ounce blue crab-crusted Black Opal Wagyu tomahawk, served with butter-braised asparagus and tarragon béarnaise; among others entress.
In addition to Martini Tuesdays, Lionfish has a late-night Happy Hour on Friday and Saturday nights from 9-10 p.m. This is in addition to its M-F Happy Hour from 5-6 p.m. You can get a beer for $6, a glass of wine for $7 and a cocktial for $10. You can see the full Happy Hour menu here.
