Drinks, Mixologists, DJs & Artists Mix & Mingle With 80,000 Event Attendees

Music, cocktails and art once again come together at HIVE, a pop-up bar open during Art Basil Miami Beach.
From Nov. 30-Dec. 4, it features live programming, artists bringing their pieces to life from start to finish, and, well, cocktails. It takes place at Mana Wynwood Convention Center in Miami Beach. Last year, more than 80,000 went to HIVE.
This year’s event features the following elements:
• A Sculpture Garden Lounge
• Live art installations
• Live music performances and DJs
• Live cocktail demonstrations by highly esteemed mixologists at the cocktail bar
• A mixology competition with bartenders from Miami’s best-known bars
• Mocktails at the Nsprire activation sponsored by Pepsi
• A skate park that combines the love of art and skating
Select spirit sponsors present Behind the Bar Series, a lively lounge and extensive cocktail bar featuring live demonstrations from Miami mixologists, previews of crafty concoctions by Miami’s Bitter Truth bar with an exclusive pop-up cocktail menu.
Want to know which mixologist is the best in Miami? Attend the Art of Craft mixology competition on Sunday, Dec. 4. Bartenders from Miami’s best-known bars will be challenged to create the most delicious, unique, and visually appealing cocktail. These famous cocktail bars and their mixologists include Nicholas Mantzaridis from Beaker & Gray, Robert Calderon from Finka Table + Tap, Eleftherios “Lef” Kraounakis from Copper 29, Leo Holtzman from SoCal Cantina, Brian Canales from Bitter Truth, and Micheal Albeurrme from The Local. This is a line-up you aren’t going to want to miss.
“Mixology is a form of art” said SWARM president, Javi Zayas. “And we wanted to highlight and give recognition to the talented artists behind the bar.”
The newest installment at HIVE for 2016 features “Infinity Plaza”, a pop-up skate park for all active art-goers created and curated by artist Andrew Schoultz. Skating obstacles will be transformed into their own individual art pieces painted by Schoultz, It’s BYOS – Bring Your Own Skateboard.
Food is available from food trucks.
When the galleries close and the art shows end, HIVE brings in top DJs to play into the night and even early morning.
Art Basel features more than 150 galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa featuring Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and performances. Tickets are $50 per day or $105 for all days ($55 and $115 at the door).
