All across America, there are haunted houses, haunted trails, Halloweeen pub crawls and promoter Halloween themed parties. It’s costumes and coctails for those whose trick-or-treating has evolved into drinking and socalizing.
It begins on Friday night as pub crawls – bar-hopping to several locations as a group – roll through cities and towns. Nightclubs have the first of their weekend Halloween bashes and Halloween house parties liven up neighborhoods.
The big Halloween weekend night is Saturday. That’s when many of the Halloween promoter parties – often huge events with 1,000 or more party people in venues with multiple rooms featuring several DJs and perhaps even bands. What might be used for a wedding reception one weekend turns into a singles feeing frenzy on Halloween weekend.
But Halloween weekend is not just about pub crawls, nightclubs and huge promoter events. It is also the time for the annual World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, a college football game between Georgia and Florida in Jacksonville, FL. The stadium is split 50/50 with fans on both sides but the real scene is before the game on and around the Jacksonville Landing, where people with no intention of going to the game gather to party one of the great tailgate scenes in all of sports.
On college campuses, Halloween actually started the week prior to Halloween weekend. At the University of Alabama, for example, people in costumes were partying in the Tusclaoosa bars on as early as the previous Wedneday night. And on Halloween weekend, these Top Halloween Party Schools are going full tilt.
For the true party people, Halloween begins well before Oct. 31. It starts on Halloween weekend.
