The 150th running of the Kentucky Derby is Saturday, May 4. Ever since it’s beginning it has been a citywide celebration in Louisville, Ky.
And this year is no different.

If you’re like most of us then you don’t follow horse racing on a regular basis to knowing your Sierra Leone from the Track Phantom so here is PubClub.com’s tips for picking a winning horse:
• Upon surverying this sheet, have a Mint Julep.
• Carefully study the names of the horses, the names of the jockeys – even looking up the track records of each – while having a Mint Julep.
• Before making your final picks, have another Mint Juelp.
• After making your picks, celebrate by having a Mint Julep. By the way, if you’re wondering exactly what is a Mint Juelp, it’s basically a mojito with bourbon instead of rum.
Mint Julep Recipe
• 1 teaspoon Powdered sugar
• 2 oz. Bourbon whiskey
• 2 teaspoons Water
• 4 Mint leaves
In a highball glass gently muddle the mint, sugar and water. Fill the glass with cracked ice, add Bourbon and stir well until the glass is well frosted. Garnish with a mint sprig.
Serve on the rocks; poured over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.
