Spa Casino Hosting Free Event With DJ & Starship Band
Palm Springs is having a New Year’s Eve block party and countdown that it says – rather boldly but you have to love the fact they are thinking big – “that could rival Times Square in the next few years.”
That quote comes from Kari Stout-Smith, Assistant General Manager at Spa Resort Casino, who quickly added “minus the east coast temperature.”
That last part certainly rings true.
NYE Schedule: Countdown To The Fireworks
The Palm Springs celebration, which is free and open to the public, takes place at the parking areas on either side of E. Andreas from N. Indian Canyon to Calle Encilia, just across the street from Spa Resort Casino, a popular space for outdoor concerts. The entrance is from N. Indian Canyon and E. Andreas Road.
It starts at 7 and features a DJ followed by an 80s rock band at 10:30, building to a countdown with fireworks.. Drinks and cocktails will be sold at a full bar and local food vendors will be there to provide necessary nourishment.
Here’s the evening’s schedule.
It begins with Los Angeles DJ DJ Dense. At 9, the Times Square celebration will be broadcast on a giant 40-foot screen.
At 10:30, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas plays on a stage a ross the street from the casino. Then there’s the countdown “Palm Springs style,” according to the event’s website.
There is limited seating and standing room at the concert and access to the actual stage area requires a ticket, which is $35. Otherwise, it’s all free. For those who just want to party in the free area, you can hear and see the band across from the venue.
