NYE On The Rhine With Hundreds Of Thousands Of Partying People
One of the most spectacular New Year’s Eve public celebrations in the world is in, believe it or not, Cologne, Germany.
This really shouldn’t surprise party people in the know, because Cologne has a huge Carnival party. And on New Year’s Eve, it’s an outdoor carnival, spectacular fireworks over the Rhine that brings out hundreds of thousands of people.
The show takes place all over the river in an almost panoramic fashion. There are fireworks everywhere, to the right, to the left, everywhere you look.
People line up along the banks and especially on the bridges. To get one of those coveted spots, you must go early, 8 or 9 o’clock. Which, of course, becomes a party onto itself. Another good viewing spot with a good party scene is the Rheinpark.
Be sure and enjoy this occasion in the festive manner is is intended, and tat is to have your adult beverages with you during the night. Obviously, beer is a natural in Germany and in Europe it’s legal to drink in the streets.
