It’s time to party on Dec. 31, and PubClub.com not only brings you the best places to party for New Year’s Eve, we tell you why they are the best places to party for NYE.
So grab a glass of champagne and let’s do a toast to these awesome destinations, the Best New Year’s Destinations – And Why.
1.) New Orleans
I love New Orleans for several reasons. First of all, the city knows how to throw a party. Secondly, you can drink in the streets.Even get drinks to go and walk around the place. There’s even Happy Hour in the early evening. There are thousands of people partying and you can go into a bar without having to pay $50 or $100 just because it’s New Year’s Eve. In fact, you don’t have to pay anything to go into most bars and there’s live music everywhere on Bourbon Street. In New Orleans, New Year’s Eve is a party. It’s not a business.
2.) Sydney
The Opera Bar by the Sydney Opera House is a great place any time of the year and on New Year’s Eve it’s off the hook. Plus it’s Australia, and the people are super friendly. The area is around The Rocks, which has several old pubs. Show up late afternoon and pace yourself.
3.) Berlin
Nearly a million people – yes, a million – gather in Brandenburg Gate with bands, DJs, entertainment. A huge reason Berlin is so high on this list is that you can bring your own alcohol and drink in the streets.
4.) Las Vegas
There are two celebrations but the one you want to be at is on The Strip. There are fireworks over the hotels and the street is packed with people. Here, too, you can have your own drinks in the street (notice a trend here!?). Plus, of course, you’re in Vegas! Just note that it’s cold in here for NYE do dress accordingly.
5.) New York City
Do it one time in your life. It’s cold and crowded and getting into the bars around Times Square is difficult (and watch out for those “all-you-can-drink” places; often you can’t even get to the bar to take advantage of it) but this is an awesome experience.
6.) Rio, Brazil
The Brazilians know how to party and they cut loose on NYE. The whole country is partying so you can’t go wrong anywhere here, and in Rio, 2.5 million people gather at Copacabana Beach alone,. Copacabana is illuminated by thousands of candles as Christian and Afro-Brazilian religions mix and make promises for the New Year. Plus, it’s summertime in Brazil so it’s warm.
7.) Key West
Let loose in the Conch Republic, where there’s a high heel drop and a wench drop. Fireworks are at the end of White Street Pier over Key West Harbor. Most bars are free that night but you’ll get cover charges at Sloppy Joe’s and a few other places. Start the night by watching the sunset at Mallory Square.
8.) Foxy’s, British Virgin Islands
This is an island party in the Caribbean. It’s more difficult to plan and access than any other place on this list, but you’re dancing under the stars and drinking rum in a tropical paradise.
9.) Amsterdam
There are great bars in Amsterdam and on NYE, people pack them then pour out into the streets for celebrations all over the city. There’s not an official fireworks celebration but there doesn’t need to be because people bring their own and set them off everywhere. The place to be at midnight is Nieuwmarkt (Newmarket) Square.
10.) Prague
At midnight, go to Old Town Square or Charles Bridge or for a view from the top, head up the hill to Letna Park (which has a beer garden!), to the Prague Castle or the “Stalin statue,” where fireworks are launched. Personally, I like to be in the heart of the action and anywhere around Charles Bridge is where you’ll find the most people. Drinks in the street are allowed and you’ll need them because it’s cold. And, well, because it’s New Year’s Eve.
