PGA Tour Carmel Event Not On The Blogger’s Calendar This Year
This event used to be par for the course.
As much of a no-brainer as a tap-in putt.
But them something happened to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. It got serious.
It used to be serious about the party, but the past couple of years it can’t seem to find the green. This PGA Tour tournament, held at the gorgeous Pebble Beach Golf Links in Carmel, CA, is still a good time. But it’s no longer worth making the 5-hour drive up from Los Angeles to Monterey to go to it.
Too bad, because I miss it. A good friend from Capitola Beach would come over and bring his party crew with him. Another friend from the South Bay would arrange his work travel schedule to be there, as well. Actually he’s a huge golf fan and is there anyway this year.
The really cool thing about the event is that it’s free. You don’t need a ticket to party. Just show up at the clubhouse and go into a big room it’s turned into a makeshift bar. And the regular bar, the Tap Room, is just down the hall.
Then you go out to the bars of Monterey or Carmel – or Spanish Bay – which are always packed and fun.
If you’re in the area, check it out. I’ll have to get my golf fix the next weekend at the Northern Trust Open here in L.A.
