Annual Event Is The City’s Biggest Celebration
I know the city, love the city and I even have an orange shirt.
But, alas, I’ll be missing its biggest annual party, Queen’s Day.
It takes place on Saturday, April 27, and it will happen without me. Darn it.
Queen’s Day is my kind of party event. It’s a huge celebration, some 800,000 strong. There’s bands in the street, DJs in the squares, parties on barges and boats in the canals and happy people everywhere.
Most people, of course, know Amsterdam for its other attributes – the coffee shops where you can smoke pot, the best Red Light District in Europe, the cool cafes that turn into bars along the Rembrantsplein and Leidesplein, and its clubs being a showcase for DJs,
But Queen’s Day is its celebration, a big toast if you will for the Queen’s birthday. And I want to be there for it!!!
Cheers!
