Cheers to Cocktail Week, Which Involves a Bar Crawl, Seminars and a Gala Dinner, All in A Celebration of Drinks
One almost needs a social secretary to handle the scheduling.
It kicks off with a bar crawl and concludes with a bathtub gin BBQ. In between are things such as the Shaker and Flask that showcases the science behind cocktails, an East Bay bartenders competition, the Barbary Coast Bizarre that features “all things bizarre and delicious” and the event highlight, the Legend’s Awards at the Sir Francis Drake Ballroom that includes a sit-down dinner paired with cocktails and burlesque dancers followed by the highly sought-after after-party.
There are total of nine events from Monday thru Sunday, and that doesn’t count the daily seminars on topics such as the Science of Taste, an introduction to tequila, and How San Francisco Saved The Irish Whiskey Category (perhaps with the Buena Vista introducing Irish coffee to America!?).
These are all ticketed events, with prices in the $50 range.
San Francisco Cocktail Week started in 2007 and is a celebration of the Bay Area’s “liquid culture” as organizers put it. Sounds good to the Bar Blogger! Hopefully I can make it to a few of the events.
