The week’s delay, as it turns out, was worth the wait.
Hermosa Beach wisely put off its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade until the week after St. Patrick’s Day due to a rare occurrence in this Los Angeles seaside city: Rain on the 17th. While that was a bummer – after all, the parade is usually the Saturday before St. Paddy’s Day and once every seven years it falls on the actual big day – it all worked out for everyone.
That’s because we got to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day twice!
Here are photos of the 2012 parade, which lasted from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Its route consisted of Pier Ave., from Valley Ardmore the Pier, then south to 8th Street on Hermosa Ave. There’s also a video of The Famous Budweiser Precision Hand Truck Team, which returned to the parade and did a dance around the hand carts at the Pier.
