Proposed Bandit Blonde Ale Sacked Like Jordan Jefferson

Boy, talk about a rough start to 2012 for Louisiana State University!
First, the school’s #1-ranked football team is pounded 21-0 by SEC rival Alabama – and former coach Nick Saban – in the BCS National Championship game.
And then, its hopes of selling a campus-branded beer has fallen flatter than Jordan Jefferson’s pass attempts in the game. At least for the moment.
The proposed Bandit Blonde Ale would have been just the thing to aid ailing Bengal Tiger fans but an issue with the Collegiate Licensing Company has caused the idea to fizzle. (The contract, which runs through 2020, would have to be re-worked in order to pop the top on this one. Maybe they should bring in Jarrett Lee off the bench to negotiate).
The idea actually came from Budweiser, which has been selling the King of Beers in purple and gold cans at off-campus locations around town. “Beer is going to be produced somewhere,” Michael Martin, chancellor of Baton Rouge’s campus, told the Baton Rouge Advocate. “It’s just a question of if we try to get something out of it.”
Campus beer. Now that’s an idea that’s been brewing in students’ minds for decades.
