Hookers in Cartagena Are Cheap So Arguing Over the Price Is The Advance Team’s Biggest Shocker

My big question when I heard about Secret Service agents hiring prostitutes in Colombia was probably not the same as the rest of the USA.
Instead of asking “how could they do such a thing!?,” my response was, “why were they arguing over the price?”
First of all, the price of hookers in Cartagena is low, about $40-50 USD. I don’t know this from personal experience but have talked to a few friends who have been there and brag about the experience. As well as the city. I could see this possibly happening in Vegas. But Cartagena?
Second of all, why is it surprising at all that Secret Service agents are out partying and getting hookers?
It probably happens all the time.
It’s just now that they caused a commotion over something really trivial. It certainly didn’t help that they had a new boss, a female. She did the right thing by sending them home and launching an investigation.
And while the Secret Service does an admirable job when on the job, its should not be the least bit shocking that the advance team goes out and parties. Secret Service agents are the nation’s police force, and hardly anybody parties as hard as the police (well, maybe firemen). The LA Police Academy has a notorious bar that gets pretty raucous every two weeks on payday.
“You know what cops are,” one of my police friends said to policemen in Australia we met while we were all on holiday in Europe. “We’re just fraternity brothers with guns!”
The Secret Service advance team is just fraternity brothers with guys and an expense account.
But, apparently, not always a lot of brains, as the Colombian controversy has revealed.
