A free night of listening to and dancing to salsa under the stars occurs once a month on Friday nights in San Diego.
The awesome Manny Cepeda & Orchestra, which often plays at Sevilla in the Gaslamp Quarter, sets up for three hours and plays in the courtyard of The Headquarters at Seaport District in downtown San Diego.
The location is by the Cheesecake Factory and Puesto behind Seaport Village in an area known as The Headquarters because it was once the location of SDPD’s headquarters. The event goes from 6-9 p.m.

Salsa Under The Stars is fun, it’s free and it’s a true part of what makes San Diego such a great nightlife destination. It’s wide open to the public and you don’t have to be a good salsa dancer to enjoy it.
Many people like to “sit it out” in the plaza and also with margaritas, cervezas and dinner at the adjacent patio at Puesto restaurant.
No tickets are required, no advance reservations are needed and the atmosphere is one of happy and upbeat, just like the salsa music being played by the Manny Cepeda & Orchestra.
The Headquarters also has Music in The Courtyard every Thursday. This is live music featuring various bands and musicians from 4-7 p.m.
