Devoted Southern California Parrotheads Can’t Always Make Thursday Shows, So Let’s Return to The Good ‘ol Days at Verizon Amphitheater (Irvine Meadows)

Jimmy Buffett’s cleverly titled “Welcome to Fin Land” tour has added two dates to the fall schedule. Both are on a Saturday. And both are in Las Vegas (Oct. 15 and 22; for the full schedule, click here.)
And that means, as has happened the past few years, that he will add a show in Los Angeles, at the Verizon Amphitheater (or Irvine Meadows, as PubClub.com prefers to refer to it) on Oct. 20.
Yes, another Thursday!!!
Jimmy, please PLEASE give us a Saturday show again in L.A.!

Irvine Meadows is the absolute BEST spot for Buffett tailgating because the parking lot is so huge (it was once a drive-thru zoo called Lion Country Safari). Plus, with the wealth of talent throughout Southern California and the endless sunshine, PubClub.com does not hesitate to say that these shows bring out the best-looking girls of any Buffett show.
Jimmy, surely you remember the good ‘ol days, when the Irvine Meadows parking lot would begin to fill up at noon and the Parrotheads would roll in with motorhomes (PubClub.com takes a party bus every year) and roll out their tiki bars, make a beach for a day, hot tubs even fill up the back of a pickup bed with water for a splash pond!?
Remember when there were so many rows of motorhomes that it was impossible to see everything!? Remember when you got on stage and asked if we wanted a warm-up band:
“I tried a warm-up band,” you said, “and you didn’t leave the parking lot to come in here before my show. Heck, I even put a band IN the parking lot and you didn’t leave your motorhomes. So I ask, do you want a warm-up band here?”
Response: “NOOOOOO!!!”
Those were the good ‘ol days and we never wanted them to end.
But now, for some reason we would like explained to us, you are now only playing here on Thursdays. Heck , you used to do Thursdays AND Saturdays.
The problems with Thursdays are multiple:
• People can’t get there until about 5;
• There’s only 3-4 rows of partying motorhomes instead of something like 20;
• We only get a “tease” of the great tailgate scene of your shows because it’s so short
• It’s difficult to fill up the PubClub party bus (which is a snap on Saturdays) because people have to take off from work early on Thursday and also all day Friday, as well because they know they need a day to recover. Instead of the 47-passenger bus we’re down to one that holds half that many, and sometimes we do down with empty seats.
Shortly after the 2010 show, PubClub ran into Michael Utley at Pancho’s in Manhattan Beach. After introductions was this plea: “Please tell Jimmy to do a SATURDAY show,” to which he said, “Yes, I know. I KNOW!”
You have always said you “give the people what they want.” Well hey, the people in Los Angeles and Southern California want a Saturday show again!
Hey, Jimmy, we’re happy to have you here; we love your music and the happiness and atmosphere it provides.
Thanks Jimmy!
