It’s not because my name is Kevin, tho that helps.

Were it O’Brien, then I might be over the top.

As it is, I love St. Patrick’s Day and here’s five reasons why it’s one of my favorite times of the year.

1.) The Atmosphere

Depending on where your are, there might be a parade, a block party or at the very least packed Irish pubs. Everyone is singing, drinking and mingling with strangers. Ideally there’s an Irish band playing Irish songs. It’s just an awesome atmosphere for St. Patrick’s Day.

2.) The Party

Beer, beer and beer! Drink it until you turn green! Well don’t take it quite that far but everyone is out partying on St. Patrick’s Day. Some places, of course, are nuts. At least once in in your life you need to go to one of these top St. Patrick’s Day destinations. Heck, go to all of ’em!

3.) The Girls!

What it about girls on St. Paddy’s Day? I suppose it’s the fact girls like to dress up for occasions and they look extra-cute on this day. Whatever, the girls look great, they are out at the parades, the parties and the bars and I love it.

4.) Everyone Is One On This Day

Part of the reason St. Paddy’s Day is so much fun is because everyone is the same on this day. They are all dressed in green, in bars or at parades drinking beer and, well, it’s just one good, big happy feeling. Too bad every day can’t be like St. Patrick’s Day.

5.) The Music

I really enjoy Irish music and bands. Songs like “Dirty Old Town”. I also, for some reason, associate that “Alice” song with St. Patrick’s Day. Perhaps it’s because I heard it in somewhere on our around St. Patrick’s Day when I was in Savannah, Ga. What I don’t like is when bars play their standard club music, the same stuff you hear every other day and night of the year. It’s St. Patrick’s Day for cryin’ out loud – play Irish music!
