Enjoying Runs Along The Strand In Hermosa, Manhattan & The Redondo Beach Marina

I have previously mentioned in these travel blogs how I like to run when I am traveling.
The same applies when I am at home, and I am fortunate enough to have one of the world’s best places to go for runs right here in the Los Angeles-area South Bay Beach Cities.
I do most of my runs along the beach on a concrete bike and running path known as The Strand.
It goes along the wide beaches with palm trees, by the Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach piers and past the “90210 house” of TV show fame.
The scenery is always changing, too. There are other runners, people on bikes, women in groups pushing baby strollers (while their husbands are at work earning the money to pay for their high-life lifestyle and don’t fool me ladies, I KNOW you are going to have a champagne lunch!), people playing beach volleyball and even on Wednesdays a small farmer’s market in Hermosa Beach.
And as spectacular that is, I can completely change the scenery by running in a different direction. Just to the south is Redondo Beach and there, I run among the boats in King Harbor Marina.
I love boats and running past them makes me think of being on one headed somewhere warm, tropical and fun. With fun friends and drinks along the way, of course.
That’s where I ran today, actually. And where I got the idea for this blog post.
Frankly, I did not feel like running when I headed out the door. But I needed to run because I have been slacking a bit lately and need to get my waistline back down to an acceptable “hey these pants fit again” level.
Fitness is, of course, something that takes a lot of self motivation. You have to do it on a regular basis. On this day, I was dragging a bit but got a sudden spark when I went by the boats. Suddenly, I was not thinking about running, I was thinking about boats.
And that’s why it’s nice to have such a variety of scenery here in the LA’s South Bay. To help yourself achieve those fitness goals within a realistic time frame, you need help and support. Apart from sharing this wellness venture with your friends, get yourself some gear such as hydration pack, a pair of shoes and runningshorts that will keep your performance at peak.
Cheers!
