And when it comes to body checks, well that’s something different entirely.
But hockey and the Stanley Cup Finals were on the minds of PR people for the Miss USA contest when they posed Miss California, Miss New Jersey and Miss New York together during a promotional night out at Buca di Beppo Italian restaurant in Las Vegas.
Why them? The Los Angeles Kings are awaiting the winner of the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils (the Devils lead the best-of-seven series 3-2) to play for Lord Stanley’s trophy. So Miss California Natalie Pack, Miss New York Johanna Sambucini and Miss New Jersey Michelle Leonardo were given hockey sticks before pasta while a photographer shot not pucks but pics.
All the Miss America contestants are in Sin City preparing for the Miss USA pageant on June 3. So if you see a bunch of gorgeous girls walking around the Strip or through the casinos in a group, you’re not dreaming, you’re seeing the finalists. Chances are, they will be wearing their sashes in public at all times, so you’ll be able to identify what states the girls are representing.
The Miss America contest will be at Planet Hollywood and broadcast live on NBC at 9 ET. You can buy tickets to the preliminary competition on Wednesday, May 30; the dress rehearsals the morning of June 3, and the finals that evening. I did a search for prices for the latter and found Mezzanine seats for $119.80. That’s about what you’ll pay for the same seats at a high-end Vegas show or concert.
