Comparison Pricing For Accommodations
The most expensive part of travel is not getting there, but being there; in other words, the cost of your accommodations.
Today, travelers have many choices of how to find hotels. That’s great as a traveler but – as anyone who has been to an American coffeeshop knows because there’s 25 different types of coffee in all types of combinations – that’s not always a good thing. Because it leads to confusion.
There is one source, however, where you can find incredible deals on a consistent basis. Check out DirectHotels.com as a recent check displayed hotel prices as low as $15 in Las Vegas and – are you ready for this – $7 a night in London. Seven dollars a night in London!? And from $10 a night in Barcelona.
This is because the inventory of hotels is staggering. There’s 9,475 in London, 9,823 in Rome, 5,448 in Barcelona and 2,696 in New York City. It’s also because DirectHotels.com compares more than 200 booking sites such as Hotels.com, Priceline and Expedia and combines those together into one site, so you don’t have to keep going back and forth – it’s all right there in front of you.
Since PubClub travels a lot to Las Vegas and we know that city so well when it comes to hotels, we decided to do a little shopping comparison. We picked a random date, a Friday and Saturday in late February. Here are our findings.
Direct Hotels.com offers the following rates (two nights total): $126 at Paris; $209 at Treasure Island; $244 at the Monte Carlo; $246 at the MGM Grand, $252 at the Flamingo; $268 at Bally’s; $283 at New York, New York and – for you high rollers – $371 at Venetian; $448 at Bellagio; $389 at Mandalay Bay and $553 at Wynn.
Prices on Hotels.com brought (per night): $129 at Flamengo, $134 at Bally’s, $143 at MGM, $145 at New York, New York; $193 at the Venetian and $197 at Mandalay Bay.
Prices on Expedia brought up (per night): $150 at Bally’s; $179 at New York, New York; $239 at the Flamingo; $249 at Paris; $214 at Mandalay Bay; $342 at the Venetian and $359 at Bellagio.
On this one example alone (and this was a quick search, for not all 464 hotels were examined, just the main ones along the Strip) the savings prove to be enough to see a show, splurge on a dinner, drop some more-than-planned money into a slot machine or have a few drinks at a bar.
It’s definitely recommended that when planning a trip to pretty much anywhere in the world, check for the hotels on DirectHotels.com.
