Lively Bangla Road Also Has Live Music Venues & Fun Party Places

There are girls, yes.
And enough bars and clubs to see them in all kinds of various clothing – or none at all – and in all kinds of various positions doing things with ping pong paddles, bananas and sometimes even with their customers.
But Patong Beach Phuket Nightlife is about much more than these so-called Go Go bars and the girls.
In fact you can hear some pretty good live music, drink really cheap beers and talk to (and perhaps even pick up) tourists from all over the world.
It’s all available on the main street, Bangla Road.
Mostly – tho this is a general rule, which in Patong Beach are rules are made to be broken – the “normal” bars are on the left side of the street as you’re walking toward the ocean, while the girl bars are on the right.
The Go Go bars are the ones where you pay a cover charge, go inside and girls are on a stage doing things like opening your beer bottle in a way that you would not normally have a staff member open your beer bottle, and play an interesting game of ping pong.
There are also a lot of beer bars, which are the open-air bars where with no cover charge and girls on a stage dancing to DJ music. It won’t take long for one of the girls, who is not dancing at the moment, to come up to you and sit with you; it’s up to you if you want to continue to have her sitting with you or if you buy her a drink. You’re under no obligation here.
The Lion is a bar that’s kind of a combination of a beer bar and a regular bar; it’s not uncommon for a hot girl who is a patron and not a worker to join the girls on stage, simply because she likes to dance.
Yet beyond this, there are the “normal” bars, too, like you find in any city or beach town. No cover, cheap beers (between $2-3 in USD standards) with fun, party music playing, often with a band. Heroes Bar is a PubClub favorite for music, cheap beer and looking out on the activity on Bangla Road.
And there’s a lot of activity to look out on; sometimes you need to just sit down and have a cold beer.
When in Phuket’s lively Patong Beach, you don’t always have to go to a bar with girls looking for you to spend money on them. But you can certainly find those places if you want, of course.
