‘I’m Coming Back In December,’ Mayweather Says In This Video Provided To PubClub.com
The fight is on; Floyd Mayweather has announced he will be fighting Manny Pacquiao later this year.
“I’m coming back in December,” he said in this video provided to PubClub.com. He was speaking to a representative of the Pacquiao camp while in Tokyo at a music festival. Pacquiao was also at the event.
First joking with a member of Pacquiao’s team Mayweather said, “he’s trying to set me up” on the video, then made his announcement. “We’re going to take the belt, we’re going to get the payday and I don’t want no shoulder excuses.”
The fight details are being negotiated. Some insiders have speculated it will be in Las Vegas but that and other details have to be worked out in the coming weeks.
Mayweather, who is 50-0 with 27 knockouts, defeated Pacquiao in a unanimous decision in their first fight, tho Pacquiao says his performance was negatively impacted by a by an injured right shoulder. That was in May 2015.
He has not fought since August 2017 when he knocked out Conor McGregor and said afterward, “this was my last fight.”
Pacquiao is 60-7-1 and in July, defeated Lucas Matthysse to win a secondary welterweight title.
