A Blowout Loss May Send The Texas Coach Out To Pasture
Despite a 1-4 start and coming off a blowout loss, Charlie Strong still has the support of alumni and the administration.
But that could change after the Red River Rivalry. If the Longhorns suffer another embarrassing defeat, then the brief Strong experiment could send the coach riding out of town.
And not in the sunset, but being chased by angry alumni with shotguns in a pickup truck.
A Rough – And Bizarre – Start To The Season For Texas
Texas has been pathetic at times this year. It was completely uncompetitive in losing 38-3 to open the season against Notre Dame and last week in getting hammered 50-7 to TCU.
In between were losses to Cal and Oklahoma State when the team lost a chance at overtime by missing an extra point and the lost after a minus-6-yard punt.
Beyond that, the team seems in total disarray. Players are criticizing each other through the social media and in the press – these things should always been done in a room behind closed doors, not played out in public – and even more unbelievably, a player was Tweeting on the bench during the TCU debacle.
Is the team so out of control the coach allows his players to have their cellphone on the sideline during the games?
Apparently.
Meanwhile, the Sooners are on the rise. It all looks like a bum steer for the Longhorns.
The Longhorns do have a glimmer of hope if they look at history; they are 5-2 when unranked and facing a ranked Oklahoma team since 1989.
