Long Beach Landmark Features Themes Of Bourbon Street Red Square, Beijing, Tokyo & Hollywood
Five themes from cities around the world on different levels are part of the 2015 New Year’s Eve celebration on the Queen Mary, capped with the only fireworks show in Los Angeles.
The decks of the Long Beach landmark become scenes from New Orleans, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo and Hollywood.
From Hurricanes To Moscow Mules & Champagne
The Promenade Deck becomes Bourbon Street with jazz, Hurricanes and Cajun cuisine. The Royal Salon is Moscow’s Red Square with Moscow Mules, aerialists and something decidedly non-Russian, DJ Mickey O playing Hip=Hop.
There also a Hip-Hop dance show on the Verandah Deck for “Tokyo at Night” which also features Top 40 music, karaoke, sakitinis and sushi.
And while the Chinese New Year isn’t until Feb. 8, the Sports Deck has dragon dancers, lion dancers and a Kung Fu show for its Beijing theme.
Finally, old-school Hollywood is featured on the ship’s Art Deck Deck with a swing band and champagne in the Grand Salon.
“This year’s celebration takes on new meaning, as it becomes the first major event timed to the ship’s 80th Anniversary year,” said Steve Sheldon, the Queen Mary’s Director of Entertainment Events.
