Wine tasting events are a good reason to kick up the heels.

Not far from Nashville, in the Cumberland Plateau region of the Volunteer state, there’s a taste of Tennessee that many folks may not know exists.

It’s a wine tasting festival.

Yes, a wine tasting festival in Tennessee. This one takes place in the historic town of Granville. It’s the Upper Cumberland Wine Festival, and it’s Saturday, April 9.

It features the eight wineries in the area that brings the year-round Upper Cumberland Wine Trail into one location.

The event takes place from noon-6 p.m., and in addition to wine samples it also features food – lunch is served in the Sutton General Store and how’s that for local culture – and live music from Nashville jazz/blues band the Lynn Beal Trio.

Not only that, but it’s a full festival day in Granville. Several other events are taking place at the same time, including an antique car show featuring vehicles built prior to 1940, a parade and old-time craftsmen.
