Just in time for March Madness, 10 Barrel Brewing has introduced Pub Light Lager.
It is an American light lager brewed with an all-new recipe and featuring natural ingredients. Pub Light Lager is made with 100% malt and contains no sugar, corn or rice. It comes in at 99 calories per 12 ounces and is 4% ABV.
To get the brew flowing, it sent me some to try. Now, when someone sends me free beer to review, I am as excited as a puppy in a store window. But it added a challenge to it – a blind taste test.
“We’re confident that Pub Light can outperform the biggest names in the domestic light beer world and wanted to put it to the test,” stated Zach Zenteno of 10 Barrel’s public relations agency WH1969. So Zach sent me a can of two beers wrapped in blue painter’s tape labeled Beer X and Beer Y. One beer was Pub Light and the other was from a major brewery.

That was pretty bold. I mean, it was like a 15 seed going against a 2 seed. Would there be an upset? A St. Peters beating Kentucky in 2022? Princeton over Arizona in 2023? High Point shocking Wisconsin in this year’s tournament? NC State against everyone in 1983? Which beer would you pick in your bracket?
Well I took the blind taste test. I poured some from each can into separate glasses, tasted those, and also drank from the cans. Afterward, I came out with a clear winner: Pub Light Lager. It won on being more flavorful. It’s that simple.
Try it for yourself. 10 Barrel Pub Beer (including the light lager variant) is widely available at major retailers and grocery stores, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. This includes Target, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Albertsons, and BevMo!. It is sold in 18-packs of 12-oz cans as well as 16-oz cans.
I think you will like it.
