Welcome to the PubClub.com South Bay Party Report!
The PubClub.com Party Report is brought to you by Kona Brewing Company. You can get its fiery Firerock on draft at the new Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach. More on Shade RB further down in the Party Report!

Don’t have tickets to the show? No problem, get ‘em in advance from Craig’s List or some other source or picking them up in the parking lot is never an issue. Those on a budget will want lawn seats, where the party continues inside the venue.

SOUTH BAY OKTOBERFEST REVIEW
Smackfest Events & Berry Bly combined to put on a great beer-chugging event last Saturday on a warm and sunny day at Bay Club. Here’s PubClub.com’s review with a video featuring Joe’s Band and the fun finale “Hot, Hot, Hot!”

Coming up, Berry Bly has his South Bay Scream Halloween party on Friday, Roctober 28, at the Portofino.

THURSDAY: DODGERS PLAYOFF GAME
The Dodgers play a final game in their series with the Washington Generals (it is the Generals, right. Or is it the Senators? I quit following baseball when they canceled the World Series, then juiced up the ball followed by juicing up the players). At any rate, the game is at 2:05 p.m.
The winner of that plays the Cubs – yes, the Billy Goats! – starting on Saturday then again on Sunday. I can’t tell you the time because MLB for some reason hasn’t posted them yet. Local Cubbies (the WACCOs!) will be watching at Silvo’s in Hermosa Beach.
FRIDAY (AND THE WEEKEND) LOCAL OKTOBERFESTS
A lot of people are going to Alpine Village Oktoberfet on Friday. PubClub.com has this review of the scene:

Also, this is one of the biggest weekends for the Big Bear Oktoberfest. Here’s what you need to know if you’re going to this fun event. Das Boot!!!

SUNDAY: JEREMY BUCK & THE BANG IN EL SEGUNDO
First of all, congratulations to new father Jeremy Buck whose wife gave birth to Zia Larouche Buck in August! You can congratulate him in person this Sunday in El Segundo as he and his band puts on its “Tokyo Sunday” show at South Bay Customs motorcycle shop, 4-7 p.m. This features rock ‘n roll in both English and Japanese, has Jimmy Kimmel guitarist Toshi Yanagi and the “So Sexy Singers.” $10 at the door.
SHADE HOTEL BAR REDONDO BEACH OPEN – AND ROCKING
It’s open and is already a South Bay hotspot. The bar is like its sister in Manhattan but what it has that’s unique is a large concrete L-shaped patio that looks out over the boats in King Harbor. This is something the South Bay has needed for a long, long time, an large outdoor area with a view. Well done Mike!
In other South Bay nightlife news, Tower 12 in Hermosa Beach will be opening in January. “And you will really like it,” Ron Newman told me as we were having Kona Firerocks the first night at Shade. He showed me some artists’ renderings and it looks like a beach bungalow living room.
PROMOTER STEVE DIMON 100% RECOVERED BUT ISSUES A HEALTH WARNING
Remember Steve Dimon, a promoter who did several fun events in LA and the South Bay? He suffered a stroke in April of 2012 and slowly climbed back to health. He e-mailed me this week to give great news, that he’s 100% recovered. Congratulations Steve! He also said that he’s learned that “most of us are toxic ticking time bombs.” Yikes! So he’s written a book and is giving seminars. You can check them both out here, as well as articles on health and eating healthy.
