City of Champions Revitalization Project Gets Underway In Inglewood
The new Hollywood Park Casino (HPC), the first phase of the Inglewood development that will become home of the Los Angeles Rams, is open for business in October of 2016.
Officially opening on Friday, Oct. 21, it is the first project to open adjacent to Inglewood’s City of Champions Revitalization Project. The new Los Angeles Rams Stadium is also underway and is set to open in the fall of 2019.
On HBC’s opening day, people have a chance to win $1 million on a spin from noon-11 p.m. There is also a party at the Raise Lounge with a DJ, speciality cocktails and craft beers. To be sure you’re responsible in your fun, there is also free Uber to and from the casino.
For those wondering if the old Hollywood Park Racetrack has reopened in addition to the renovated casino, the answer is no. For that, go to Santa Anita and/or Del Mar.
“Our new building is 40% larger, holds 35 more gaming tables, and include a 20 percent increase in high limit,” HPC General Manager Deven Kumar said. “And we are still just minutes from downtown Los Angeles and LAX Airport.”
The Raise Lounge is a plush lounge with chairs and couches while the Century Bar & Grill is a restaurant with American fare that doubles as a sports bar with a large TV. There’s also a deli and a Peet’s Gourmet Coffee.
“We’ve worked with the best designers to make this property fun and secure,” Kumar said. “The new casino has a well-lit parking facility and security cameras covering the area. People who come to play can do so in a beautiful, safe space.”
In addition to opening day, there are several regular promotions, including a $100,000 End Zone Challenge and a $50,000 Poker Cash Stash.
A celebrity poker tournament is scheduled for Oct. 22. While the guest list isn’t being released, many Hollywood celebrities have been spotted playing at HPC in the past, including Ben Affleck, William Shatner and Jason Alexander.
