The Kincade fire, which is burning in Northern California, may get worse before it gets better. Already, 75,000 acres have been burned and it is only 15% contained. Strong winds could fuel further outbreaks.

For those who have planned a trip to the area – or, in the case of at least one couple, a wedding – to visit the California wine country in Sonona County and Napa Valley, here is an update on closures and other important things you need to know.

Sonoma County

The fire in in northern Sonoma County and has had an impact in the entire area, including the wine country. As of Thursday, power has been restored to several areas and residents are being allowed ot return home.

The Wine & Food Affair, scheduled to take place Nov. 2-3, has been canceled.

The following is a statement on the current conditions from Sonoma County Tourism:

Portions of Sonoma County continue to be impacted by the Kincade fire, however, some residents of communities previously under evacuation orders have begun returning to their homes. The other communities in the County, are beginning to operate as normal. In addition, power continues to be restored to customers throughout Sonoma County.

While emergency management teams are working tirelessly to protect the areas around the towns of Healdsburg and Windsor, the town of Sonoma, and cities of Petaluma and Rohnert Park are operating mostly as usual.

The Sonoma Valley Visitor Center is open 10/28 as are several retailers around the Sonoma Plaza.
