Any Las Vegas commoner would be able to tell you that cocktailing, and the city’s pub and drink scene, are truly what has given the city it’s claim to fame. The free drinks that you can get while sitting at a slot chair are good, but they can get so much better! Keep reading to check out some of the best and most popular pubs in all of Las Vegas!
Velveteen Rabbit
This bar is fun by two sisters in an artsy section of downtown Las Vegas. Walking into this pub does not feel like any other. The interior is laid out with vintage furniture, which gives it a rustic and welcoming feel. This is a great bar that gives you the chance to get away from all of the craziness on the strip. The service here is almost unmatched; the servers will make you feel right at home, almost as if you were being served from one of your friends in their home.
This pub features in their drinks many home-made ingredients, which can change with the seasons, giving the pub a revolving rotation of seasonally-preferred drinks. This is the perfect pub to go out to to grab some great drinks with a few friends, or to perhaps impress your artsy date.
Commonwealth
This is another pub that’s perfect for catching a break from the craziness that takes place on the strip. One great thing about this pub, to some, is that in addition to it’s list of cocktails and mixed drinks, they also have a long list of tasty beers. This pub gives off vibes from prohibition-era trends, with hanging chandeliers and furniture to match the style. There’s also a speakeasy bar in the downstairs area! In all, it feels down to earth and mellow.
They have over two dozen beers on tap, with more in bottles and cans. Regardless, their cocktail menu is still impressive, and they also have an impressive wine collection. On nice weather days, enjoy your drink out on the rooftop!
Mandarin Bar
Known affectionately by Las Vegas locals as the ‘corner bar’, the Mandarin Bar offers some of the best views in the city through its large windows that extend from ceiling to floor. This is perhaps one of the most modern looking pubs in all of the city, and has a very slick feel to it. It is somewhat of a lowkey bar, surprisingly not known by many, since it rests on the 23rd floor of the Mandarin Oriental.
The Dorsey
This pub had just recently been opened back in 2016, and was heralded as one of the best opening weekends for a pub in Las Vegas in quite some time! It’s hard to match the interior design and overall feel of the Dorsey Bar; a dark space with large modern chandeliers and incredible couches that make you want to hole up and spend the rest of your night there. It’s located right next to ‘Restaurant Row’ which makes it a great place to go to for before or after a dinner date.
The vibe can be quite romantic, so it’s certainly a great place to bring a date to. The crowd here is normally filled with good-mannered people who want to enjoy their night, so you shouldn’t expect any issues. On their drink menu, they separate their cocktails into subcategories that differ in taste and ingredients. The staff here take their jobs seriously, and will be very punctual in all of their service.
Starboard Tack
If you’re interested in a little blast to the past, then check out Starboard Tack! This recently revived bar is over 50 years old, and embraces all things retro and vintage. Upon walking in, you’ll feel like you’re walking into a Las Vegas bar in the 70’s. As a result, it’s grown to be a local favorite! A good pastime in this bar is also to play online Vegas style casino games. The booths here feature upholstered tropical fabrics. Aquatic-themed stained glass panes are still used in their new funky mural. In all, it feels like a great little throwback bar. The drink menu tends to be heavy on the fruity ingredients, but the drinks are much more sophisticated than you would think!
Bound
If you’re looking for a little more throwback feel, then Bound would be another great pub choice to check out. Bound encapsulates the feel of 1970’s Las Vegas, helped by its warm decor, mirrored surfaces and choice of cocktail drinks. The cocktails here were designed by famous mixologist Salvatore Calabrese, and are separated into chapters on the drink menu. This pub is more quiet than others, and is a great place to take out a date to impress with your knowledge of good cocktail spots.
Conclusion
Las Vegas is a magical city that has so much to offer. From wonderful views, to beautiful hotels, to elegant bars and pubs, this city truly has it all. The next time you find yourself in Las Vegas, be sure to check out this list of the finest pubs you can visit, and you’ll undoubtedly have a great time.
