Social Distancing With Bands, Food & Lot More In Rural Tennessee
Imagine being outside, standing by a stage and listening to a band at a music festival.
If this sounds like either a flashback or a dream in this COVID-19 era, it’s neither. In fact, it was reality for myself and a couple thousand other people the first weekend of October. We were at the Lynchburg Music Fest in Lynchburg, TN.
This was a three-day event that featured headliners Justin Moore, Kip Moore and Josh Turner. The other acts were local Southern bands heard around the Nashville area, which currently are having a difficult time getting gigs due to the coronavirus pandemic.
That’s why it was so nice to be at the festival, in person, to see these acts.
In addition to the music, there was food and drinks (naturally, at the home of Jack Daniels) and, for multi-day guests, camping.
We were there on Saturday and here are my observations:
• It was held in a big, open field with plenty of space. The environment was incredibly relaxed, which made for a sense of relief among everyone always worried about maintaining proper social distancing.
• Everyone seemed to be grateful to be at a live music show and around other people in this large outdoor setting. The performers kept thanking the crowd and it was obvious they were thrilled to finally be performing in front of a live audience.
• The food and beverage was wide ranged and activities varied from corn hole to booth games. Vendors and staff all wore masks and took the necessary precautions required these days.
• Speaking of vendors, there was everything from Zaxbys to CBD Oils to Kayak Snuff, a type of chewing tobacco.
• The food was mostly carnival style with pit barbecue, soft pretzels, corn dogs and fried chicken.
• One unique experience were tastings from American Craft Distilleries of Lynchburg. People were able taste different bourbons, gins, and even wines from the Lynchburg Distillery, Lynchburg Winery and of course, Jack Daniels, all for just $10.
