For one thing, it’s not freezing and sleeting or snowing. In fact, you could get a suntan – and even a sunburn – laying out on the sand.
There are plenty of places to spend the holidays at beaches around the world and in the U.S., Florida is a top destination. In the Panhandle there’s Destin and Panama City Beach, two fairly small towns located next to each other.
There, you can get in the spirit of the holidays while also doing some cool things you can’t do elsewhere because of the weather and vacation activities. Heck you will probably see Christmas trees and even Santa on the beach.
There are also decorations – be sure and drive through some of the neighborhoods to look at decorated houses – a parade in Panama City and lots of shopping opportunities from the usual malls to beach stores.
Plus, you’re at the beach so instead of staying inside staring at the packages under the tree and watching meaningless bowl games like you probably do at home, you can be out doing things. Destin and Panama City are particularly fun in those areas with themed putt-putt golf courses (as well as real golf courses), go karts and tons of restaurants and bars with views of the Gulf of Mexico and the back bays, as well as unreal sunsets.

WonderWorks is primarily for kids and not necessarily PubClubbers, but it’s quality time with the family and there are plenty of bars to visit later. Like after one of those Gulf Coast sunsets.
