While Manhattan Beach – and the surrounding Los Angeles South Bay Beach Cities for that matter – might be a place of the endless summer, one of its most festive months is December.
For starters, the sunsets are ridiculously early at about 4:45, but that means you can watch them with a drink in your hand during Happy Hour.
It is also the month of one of the best events of the year, the Holiday Fireworks.

Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks
Sunday, Dec. 12, Manhattan Beach Pier
This event will give you chills up your spine. One of the most spectacular fireworks shows you will ever see is set to holiday music and is set off on barges just off the pier.
Thousands of people are on the beach, all along The Strand for blocks and at private house parties. The bars are crowded and the overall atmosphere is one of jovial fun. The event starts with live music just before sunset (4 p.m.) and continues with a jammin’ band playing on a large stage at the base of the pier.
If there is one don’t-miss event in Manhattan Beach, this is it.

Hermosa Beach 12 Bars Of Christmas
Friday, Dec. 10, Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza & Hermosa Ave.
This is a true nightlife event with hundreds of the South Bay’s most nightlife-minded singles and couples. They go from bar to bar along Pier Plaza and Hermosa Ave., all dressed in Santa hats, outfits and full-on awesome holiday attire.
The bars are not really big enough to fit everybody so you just bar-hop along the way. There is a group photo at the Christmas tree (base of the Pier) at 9 p.m.

Redondo Beach King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade
Saturday, Dec. 11, King Harbor Marina
The King Harbor Yacht Club hosts this annual event along the King Harbor channel. Boats “parade” back and forth between the yacht club and the marina entrance in an event that lasts several hours.
Great viewing locations are along the Portofino, the Redondo Beach Pier by Kincaid’s and rocks, tho be careful you don’t fall between them.

Outdoor Dining Ends Jan. 3
All that outdoor dining that has been on the streets during the pandemic will be ending on Jan. 3, the city council has confirmed.
