When It Comes To Singles Bar Posture I Prefer Standing vs. Sitting

It’s Easier To Spring Into Action In Singles Bars When Leaning Rather Than Being Seated

Singles Bar Posture Standing vs. Sitting
The Bar Blogger prefers to be leaning in bars rather than sitting or standing.

I’m not a sitter, nor really a stand-up person when it comes to taking a posture in a singles bar.

Instead, I’m more of a leaner.

To me, there’s something comfortable about taking an arm or an elbow and resting against the side of the bar or a chair, as opposed to actually sitting in the chair.

Maybe it’s because I’m single. By leaning, rather than sitting, I feel I can spring into action at any moment, should a cute girl suddenly enter the playing field. I can suddenly be by her side, ready to entertain her with a clever opening line or amusing anecdote. By being ready, I can beat other guys to the bunch, a very important element in this ever-competitive world of singles dating.

Leaning also provides the visual advantage of appearing to be casual and comfortable. Confident in my surroundings and the people around me, be they friends or strangers. In control and enjoying myself. If I’m just standing, it can give the impression I’m ready to down my beer and leave at any second.

When I’m leaning, people will always ask if I want to sit, and even assume that I will sit. They start shifting around, making room for another person at the bar or table. Girls who are friends even act all motherly about it. “Sit,” they will say while patting the barstool or chair.

I lean in bars where I know people and in bars I’m visiting for the first time.

Whenever I do sit, I find I often become complacent. Especially if its a big, comfortable chair with a sturdy back. Sometimes, I get so comfortable, I don’t want to move. And this can be destructive to singles. When a group of girls enters the bar, instead of raising up, making sure there are no beer spills on my shirt or dabbling foam off my chin, I just sit there hoping they will come my way and plop themselves down next to me.

They never do, of course, and within minutes they are chatting with strange men who just entered the picture. Obviously, they were standing, not sitting.

In bars, us singles guys have to be ready to move at a moment’s notice to take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves. Leaning makes that possible without, and this is key, seeming to be too anxious.

Cheers!
