Saturday morning came earlier than I would have expected, considering I was out all day Friday, starting with a liquid lunch that spilled over into Happy Hour and then into the night.
I might have been expected to sleep in until, oh say noon, but for some reason awoke around 8:30. I was still a bit buzzed from the previous day/night and the brain was woozy. I had a bit of a hangover.
It was not a doozie, mind you – the eyes were fully open and my hair was not sticking up on the back of the head as if I had spiked it – but my brain was as foggy as the overcast June Gloom weather outside the apartment. What I perfect time to try out Forgiven, a “alcohol recovery shot” which just arrived in the mail! I was sent a few samples to try out and write about on this blog.
“By expediting the body’s ability to metabolize alcohol, Forgiven helps reduce the debilitating effects of a hangover,” it how it’s explained in the press materials. It’s billed an an “alcohol metabolizer” which is a fancy way of saying that it reduces the alcohol blood level and thus – in theory anyway – that reduces the potential for a hangover.
So I eagerly opened up the bottle, which at two ounces is about the size of one of those 5-hour energy bottles. It comes in three flavors and, with no particular preference between orange, tropical punch and grape, chose the latter.
And, I must say, within about 10 minutes, I indeed felt better. The mental cobwebs began to disappear and I was able to think clearly. And while I certainly did not get a sudden burst of energy and race to put on my running shoes or do some other strenuous physical activity, I did notice an improvement in my condition.
It did leave a lingering taste of grape in my mouth, which I eventually washed away with some iced tea.
Let it be stated that, with most anti-hangover remedies I try, I do not follow the precise directions of the product. I take pills – RU21 – that I find quite effective but instead of “taking two pills before you start drinking and two pills after you stop drinking” as directed I take them all all times during the night. And such was the case with Forgiven. Only after I downed the bottle did I learn you are supposed to take it after you finish drinking.
So it’s really a prevention more than a remedy.
Now is when I will list the ingredients. I do this because I’ve notice that, for reasons I always fail to comprehend, people are very cautions about hangover solutions. You would think if you gave them something for a hangover, they would gobble it up like a person would water after a week lost in the desert. But no, they take the bottle, scrutinize it, study the ingredients and follow that up by saying, “hmmm.”
This makes no sense to me because the same people will – without fail – do any shot in the bar you put in front of them without asking the first thing about it. Only after downing it will they say, “hey what was that shot?”
With all that in mind, Forgiven contains the following (and no caffeine): Thainine Monoitrate, Sodium Ascorbate, Calcium Pantothenate, Niacinamide, Pyridoxine and Zinc. That’s vitamins and herbs, plus organic and amino acids.
For me, it’s far more valuable to know the company is based in Las Vegas! The potential for field research in Sin City means a lot more to me than all the Thainine Monoitrate and Sodium Ascorbate one can asorb, either mentally or physically.
Forgiven is sold at retail outlets; it’s website provides a finder to get it in your town: takeforgiven.com.

Forgiven Alcohol recovery shots is absolutely useless product. We tried it a couple of times the way its been instructed but wokeup with a bad hangover. Please don’t buy this product. Its a scam and nothing else. Another placebo in a bottle to fool gullible people in the name of Pseudo-science.

I went to a bachelorette party a couple of weeks ago and took a box of Forgiven with me. As you can imagine there were a lot of girls who drank too much. Several took Forgiven and several didn’t. We did follow the instructions pretty closely and those who took it in the proper quantity (1 bottle for every 5 drinks) felt fine the next morning those who didn’t take it, or only took 1 bottle, woke up with major hangover symptoms. I was one who woke up fine! Love this stuff. My favorite flavor is the Orange Dream
