Price & Family-Run Accommodations In Monterey Bay
One of PubClub.com’s favorite places in California is the Monterey/Carmel area. There’s gorgeous scenery all along the coast, there’s wine tasting everywhere and “no-rush” pace.
And when there, especially in Carmel, we like to stay at the Hofsas House hotel. Here’s five reasons why you should, too:
1.) It’s In Carmel! Not just in Carmel, but on the edge of the village. Within two minutes, you can be having a great meal, spending your husband’s money in the art galleries while he’s golfing, down at the wide beach overlooking Pebble Beach or doing crazy at a dive bar like Odie’s. Or be on the Carmel Wine Walk or Food Walk!
2.) It’s Cozy And Not A Chain. You know how it is when you walk into even a nice chain hotel or big property? You feel a bit stoic. But not here. For starters, there’s a fireplace and couch and a bowl of fruit in the small lobby. All the rooms are slightly different, which is most definitely not the trait of a big hotel or chain.
3.) The Staff. The Hofas House is family owned and has been in the same family for two generations. The minute you walk in the door, you are a part of that family. That’s not just words, it’s the way it is here.
Carrie is the owner and she may even have a glass of wine with you when you check into Hofsas House. She most definitely will pull out a map of Carmel and show you exactly where everything is located and how to get to them (Carmel has no street addresses to look up on your phone, so this is important information!).
4.) The Special Packages. Just ask in advance and Hofas House will have a basket with a bottle of Monterey County wine and local cheeses in your room. How about an in-room massage? They can also arrange for S’mores and a bonfire on Carmel’s gorgeous beach.
5.) There’s Free WiFi In The Rooms. This is a HUGE bonus and something every hotel should have but, for reasons PubClub cannot fathom, do not.
In Carmel, you don’t want want to be spending too much time in your room but the rooms here are so cozy and comfortable you don’t mind taking your time and checking things like your e-mail and Facebook.
