Gene Simmons And Paul Stanley Give LA Airport Entertainment A Big KISS

You know how it is when you get to the airport two hours early for your flight, only to fly through security in five minutes and suddenly find yourself trying to kill an hour and a half before boarding the plane?
Happens all the time. But if you are in Los Angeles, you’re in luck, thanks in large part to Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS. They and their partners have opened a Rock & Brews bar and restaurant at LAX and not only is it a great place to spend your spare time, it could even provide a reason for you to actually intentionally get to the airport way early.
You’ll enjoy hanging out there so much you may even miss your flight!

The restaurant/bar serves that great Rock ‘n Brews food such as burgers made with high-quality meat, super salads, good sandwiches and its best item, if you ask me, very tasty pizza. Prices are in the low-to mid-teens.
And there’s also beer, but jut not any beer. Ten of the 12 taps are craft or premium beers: Goose Island IPA, Goose Island’s 312 wheat, Shock Top Belgian White, Kona Big Wave Golden Ale from Hawaii, Spaten, Beck’s, Boddington’s, Alchemy Ale and Widmer Brothers’ Rotator IPA. Michelob Ultra and Bud Light. are also on tap. (There is also a full bar.)
Playing on several TVs are those way-cool rock videos from the 80s, which are still appealing years after they made MTV a star.

I know from the experience that it’s easy to sit at Rock & Brews with a good beer (say, Goose Island or Big Wave) and lose track of time watching those videos. That’s fine when you are at its Redondo Beach or El Seundo location, but not such a good idea when you’re in an airport.
To be safe, you might want to set the alarm on your smart phone when you sit down at this place!
Just don’t expect the bar to explode with pyrotechnics.
The LAX Rock & Brews is located in Terminal 5, which serves Delta Air Lines, adjacent to Gate 53A. And you may see the KISS duo at a table next to you.
“We’ll be coming through here a lot,” Stanley said, “because we’re doing a lot of traveling these days.” (Stanley and Simmons have plans to open a hundred Rock & Brews around the USA.)
This location is officially called Rock & Brews Concert Bar at LAX and it’s a big part of a Terminal 5 renovation that is upgrading the restaurants and bars that is to be completed in 2015.
“Needless to say, we have spent a lot of time at airports during the course of our careers, and the availability of a quality food and entertainment experience while you wait for a flight is long overdue,” Stanley and Simmons said in a joint statement.
“Rock & Brews is a family-friendly concept that is designed to engage rockers of all ages featuring incredible comfort food, craft beer and rock and roll.”
Also involved is fellow Manhattan Beach, CA, resident Michael Zislis, who started Manhattan Beach Brewing Company in the 90s. He was beaming a few years later when his original business grew big enough to open a location at LAX. Now he’s involved in a place that been given a big KISS by two huge rock stars.
Cheers to ya, Mike!
