South Bay Nightlife Daytime Playtime Awaits A First-Time Beach Cities Visitor

It’s time to play South Bay tour guide again, as I have a friend visiting me in Manhattan Beach.
It’s her first time to the Beach Cities and that’s even more exciting than someone who has been here before, because it’s all new to her. And I love playing South Bay tour guide!
First, we’ll get on the bikes and cruise the Strand. That’s something that is unique to the Los Angeles beaches. Sure, you can do it elsewhere, including riding bikes actually on the beach in Siesta Key, FL, but here there is a designated path that goes some 25 miles from Palos Verdes to past the Santa Monica Pier.
That’s too much ground to cover, so I stick to the South Bay. We roll through Manhattan, down to Hermosa, around King Harbor and now, with Rock & Brews rocking in Redondo it’s cool to spend a little time in Riviera Village.
And while the biking is great, the real highlights of my tours are taking visitors to my favorite South Bay bars.
We’ll go into Sharkeez Hermosa (accurately describing it as “The Black Hole”), Old Tony’s to introduce her to the Fire Chief drink, to the gorgeous Baleen in King Harbor for some wine, perhaps even to the Bottle Inn’s Thursday wine tasting, to Shellback Tavern at sunset, to FishBar in Manhattan Beach, OB’s for Taco Tuesday and, if she’s still around on the weekend, Pancho’s to hear its great rock cover band.
Plus, I throw in a few other secret spots that are among my favorite stops.
Just a few weeks earlier, I did the same with another friend (like this one, also from Australia) and we had a blast. I expect much of the same with this Sydneysider.
Cheers!
