Thank goodness that’s in the rear view mirror. Concerts postponed or outright canceled. Bar owners and managers cutting shifts for their staff by as much as 50%. Nightclubs going dark from Athens to Las Vegas.

Las Vegas!?

Even in London, one of the nightclub nirvanas of the world, the streets around the clubs are almost deserted. The coronavirus situation is having an affect on a lot more the travel industry – it’s having a major impact on nightlife, too.

By PubClub.com’s definition, nightlife is anything where people go out and have drinks, including concerts, festivals and even some sporting events such as March Madness.

Some have estimated that 50 million jobs in the industry were lost as a result of the pandemic.

Emma McClarkin, Chief Executive of the British Beer and Pub Association, told the London Daily Mail:

“Pubs and their staff are adopting a common sense approach towards COVID-19 and we have provided detailed briefings to all our members including advice from Public Health England and the NHS. We are monitoring the situation and official advice closely. Unless official advice changes, people can still go and enjoy the great British pub.

“Of course, pubs do operate under tight margins and so any potential downturn is a real concern for the industry.”

Below is a rundown of major events that have been canceled or postponed due to coronavirus concerns.
