From Surfer’s Paradise To Sydney And, Oh Canada!?

The answer seems simple to the question “where’s the best places to party for Australia Day?”
Go to Australia and walk out the door.
And yes, that will most certainly work. But it’s good to have some direction. After all, this is the country’s version of the Fourth of July. It marks the arrival of the First Fleet into what is now Sydney and it takes place every year on Jan. 26. So here’s PubClub.com’s recommendations of the Top Party Places for Australia Day.
1.) The Rocks, Sydney. This is where the country was first settled, and today it’s where the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge are located. There’s a row of small bars – pubs, really – .one one side of Sydney Harbor. But the real place to party is Opera Bar, a large outdoor mecca of mingling. You can also see fireworks here. If you’re just going to walk around for a while and soak in the atmosphere, it’s important to note that it’s not legal to have a drink in the streets. yes, this seems odd in a country where people drink beer as if it were a life-sustaining substance but that’s the law. So if you’re walking around with alcohol be sure and put it in a concealed container.
2.) Melbourne. Aussies rock this place for the Melbourne Cup in November and that’s just a warmup to Australia Day. One place to avoid that’s been a pretty good party place in the past is Edinburgh Gardens in the city of Yarra near Melbourne. Alcohol is being banned response to people trashing the popular park on New Year’s Eve. That’s surprising because Australians are among the the most clean people on the planet and hardly drop any trash anywhere.
3.) Brisbane. This city on a river in Queensland is one rockin’ party place. There’s two places to go, the downtown park that has a swimming pool by the river and a number of restaurant/bar, but the real party place is in a section of town called The Valley. This is a row of bars and restaurant/bars in a plaza a kilometer in length. It’s one of the best party places in all of Australia and you could certainly do worse than to be here for Australia Day.
4.) The Gold Coast. Surfer’s Paradise is here and that’s always a party. Plus there’s a beach!
5.) Whistler, B.C. Let’s say you can’t be in Australia. Then go where the Aussies go, and that’s North American ski resorts. And you’ll find the most Aussies in Whistler, the Canadian party palace. They gather at the ski apres bar the Longhorn Saloon but know they pack the place so be in there by mid-afternoon to avoid a line.
