Tiki Theme Features Sand, Palm Trees & Boat Drinks
Now, they don’t have to leave the city to get at least the latter, as the Montague hotel in Bloomsbury has created a temporary piece of paradise called, appropriately enough, Beach Bar.
It’s the same idea as the hotel’s Ski Lodge bar in the winter – bring something people desire but usually have to travel to get into the heart of London.
For Beach Bar, a part of Montague On The Gardens has been transformed into a thatched-roof hut with tropical concoctions – Jimmy Buffett calls these “boat drinks” – palm trees and sand.
It’s open June 8-July 24, daily from 3-10 p.m.
Unfortunately, you can’t just go in after work, kick off the dress shoes and plop down at a barstool; you have to buy a “surf pass,” which is $40. For that, you get a pina colada and another “boat drink,” plus a BBQ platter with a mini chicken burger with pineapple relish, a savory seafood skewer, a mini fish and chips and ice cream.
If you sit on the Jet Ski, take a selfie and do a social media post with the hastag #SurfMontague, you’re entered to win two nights at the Duke of Richmond Hotel in Guernsey, plus airfare.
Boat Drinks – waitress we need two more boat drinks!
Address: 15 Montague Street, Bloomsbury, London, WC1B 5BJ
