One of the fun things for PubClubbers to do when traveling is to take brewery tours. In Amsterdam there is the legendary Heineken Brewery (legendary because it used to offer unlimited beers, making it a hangout haven for backpackers) and in Prague there is Pilsner Urquell The Original Beer Experience.
At the latter, you can get not just a tour but a special brew, the Pilsner Urquell Unfiltered, a straight-from-the barrel experience of Czechia’s legendary beer. If you go at a certain time of the year.
Normally that is in October but this year it’s in September.
“Unfiltered Pilsner lager is a rare delight, and we’re thrilled to offer this special treat to our guests a month early,” said Romana Jedličková, Marketing Director of The Original Experience Company. “It’s a chance to not only enjoy the beer but dive deep into the story behind it before our big anniversary in October. And with our talented bartender Matyáš serving masterful pints, every glass will carry a piece of that legendary history.”
Traditionally released in October to mark the anniversary of the first batch of Pilsner brewed on October 5, 1842, this year’s unfiltered Pilsner is available early and only at Pilsner Urquell, The Orginal Beer Experience. Time it right, and you can go to Prague before or after Okotberfest in Munich, which is exactly what PubClub.com did a few years ago.
Pilsner Urquell The Original Beer Experience, is not really a brewery but a beer museum that explores the colorful, offbeat history of “The Beer That Changed the World.” It explains how Pilsner Urquell became the world’s first golden lager and how King Wenceslas himself played a part in the beer revolution.
The Pilsner Urquell, the Original Beer Experience also features:
- Interactive exhibits that unravel the beer’s rich history.
- The wildly popular Tapster Academy, where you’ll learn to pour the perfect pint.
- A Beer Sommelier Dinner, pairing gourmet meals with Pilsner Urquell (and unfiltered in September!).
- Behind-the-scenes access to the world of brewing, showing you firsthand how this beer sparked a global revolution.
Pilsner Urquell, the Original Beer Experience, is is Old Town, past the landmark Astronomical Clock at the bottom of the Wenceslas Square. Map.
Tickets, which include two beers, start at 22 Euros.
