Annual Huge Event Is The Mardi Gras Of Switzerland

In New Orleans, there’s Mardi Gras. In San Francisco, there’s Bay to Breakers. In Berlin, there’s the Love Parade.
And in Zurich, one of Europe’s most dynamic cities, there’s the Street Parade.
The next Street Parade is Aug. 13, 2021. It starts at 1 p.m., and goes until 10 at night. Beer and food vendors line the event for all 10 hours. In fact, it’s the world’s largest techno party.
Modeled after the Love Parade, the Street Parade is a massive one-day event with hundreds of thousands of people filling the streets and music – primarily house and techno – coming from every direction.

It is comprised of 28 floats that are moving stages (called Lovemobiles), plus five stages along the route playing various kinds of music with top DJs and dance animations.
It is so huge, it’s broadcast throughout Switzerland on TV.

It starts at the edge of the Old Town and runs along Lake Zurich, from Utoquai and down Bellevue, Quaibrücke and Bürkliplatz, ending at Hafendamm Enge.
The Main Stage is at Bürkli Platz, where international star DJs spin the likes of electronic and techno. The Future Stage is on the Opera House Carpark iand features new trends. The On the Now and Forever stages are in front of the Congress House where local DJs are featured. “Swiss Innovations” are on the Limmat Quay Stage.
The Street Parade, in cooperation with “SUISA”, is also providing a stage for “made in Switzerland musicians. In addition to the day’s activities, ore- and post-parade parties are held in clubs and bars all over the city. Special trains and are added to the transportation system to make it easy for everyone to experience the event.
TIPS: Do not climb on the traffic lights, road signs, etc. …Techno and house music is so loud they pass out earplugs. Use them…No water pistols or whistles are allowed.
This year’s motto is “Enjoy the dance floor – and save it.” We’ll drink to that!

Seems like a fun place to be. I am going to Zurich in August, too bad it’s after the 11th.
