California Ski Resort Has Snow Into The Summertime
At a time when people in California should be thinking about going to the beach, many instead are headed to the mountain.
That is because Mammoth Mountain is going to be open until August for skiing and snowboarding. Heavy winter rains and cool temperatures that have lasted through the spring have created a tremendous snowpack on Mammoth, causing Californians to scramble to pull out their skis and snowboards from their closets and head up Highway 395 to hit the slopes.
“Yep, it’s June.” PubClub.com friend Chris posted on his Facebook page the middle of that month along side a pair of photos, one of which shows winter-like snow on a run. “Mammoth does not disappoint!”
Mammoth reported a 45-inch base at the lodge in mid-June and a whopping 492 inches this season. The summit has had 718 inches.
“We’ll be open DAILY into August,” Mammoth posted on its website. “Lift operations are based out of Main Lodge with lifts spinning from 7:30AM-2PM.”
