Bar Leone in Hong Kong is the world’s best bar.
At least according to a group known as the World’s Best 50, very lucky individuals who get to travel the globe to rank bars and restaurants. Such lists are all subjective, of course. What is one person’s treasure is another person’s trash, of course, tho it’s doubful that Bar Leone – a neighborhood bar in Hong Kong’s upscale Sheung Wan area – wouold be anyone’s trash. But you get the picture.
I mean, how would this group feel about some of my favorite bars: the Tropical Beach Bar and the Scandinavian Bar in Mykonos, Greece; the Tropical Bar in Santorini, Lahaina Beach House in Pacific Beach, CA; Innisfree in Tuscaloosa, AL; the Ocean Deck in Daytona Beach, FL; Foxy’s in the British Virgin Islands and Paddy Reilly’s Irish Pub in Basel, Switzerland, just to name a few?
And, heaven forbid, what would the World’s Best 50 think of the original Sharkeez in Manhattan Beach, CA?

Still, these lists are interesting to review. I like to see if I’ve ever been to any of the places. Here is the World’s Best 50 Bars list; how how many have you been to, if any?

My count is zero. Tho I might would have tried to locate The Cambridge Public House when I was in Paris recently but considering how long it took me to find the famous Harry’s New York Bar, I doubt I would have ever made it there. (Have you ever been to Paris? It has some of the world’s biggest buildings; some are blocks long and they obscure nearly every other thing in the area. Plus, you walk out of the Metro in any one of four directions, encounter gigantic building after gigantic building and hours later you discover the place you are looking for by accident when walking down a narrow alley.)
By the way, PubClub.com has own own list of Top 10 bars in the world. How many of these have you been to and do you agree? Leave a comment.
