WWII Battleship, Kayaking & Even A Party Bus On List Of Attractions

The WWII battleship USS Alabama is one of the attractions in Mobile, AL.

When you think of visiting the state of Alabama, the Crimson Tide football team probably comes first to mind.

And for good reason: the Tide is a perennial powerhouse in college football and Tuscaloosa is a fine place to be on fall Saturdays.

But there’s more to see in the state, particularly in Mobile and along its coast. Did you even know Alabama has a coastline?

Maybe you did and maybe you did not, but it does – Jimmy Buffett is from there and so, too, is Kenny “The Snake” Stabler – and the state’s tourism department is kicking off the the start of Alabama’s three-year bicentennial celebration with the introduction of the Alabama pass.

The pass allows visitors and residents alike to save 25% off participating attractions and 15% off select restaurants, primarily in Mobile and Gulf Shores. The cost of the pass is $10 for adults, $8 for kids.

Among the attractions are the USS Alabama, a WWII battleship located in Mobile; kayaking; a tour of the Tensaw Delta where you may see a gator or two and even a party bus in Mobile (wonder if you could take it to the Flora-Bama bar!?).

Currently on the restaurants list are the two restaurants in Mobile, and three at the Perdido Beach Resort.

One place that’s not on it that should be on your Alabama sightseeing/eating list is Dreamland Ribs, with locations in Tuscaloosa, Mobile and Birmingham.

You can get the pass on-line at Alabamapass.com.

A pass provides one discount at each and every place you visit within a seven-day period. There are no logins, no paper coupons, no apps to download and up to 10 adults and 10 children may all use one pass.

From now thru 2019, all 67 counties in Alabama will be celebrating 200 years as a being a state.  State in 2019.  In 2017, Alabama focuses on “Discovering Our Places,” coinciding with Alabama’s territorial bicentennial.
