Drinking With A Vaccination Card The New Norm In Los Angeles
If you’re going to be having beers, cocktails or wine in inside at a Los Angeles County bar, you need to be vaccinated.
Af of Friday, Sept. 17, anyone who goes to an indoor bar, nightclub, brewery or winery will be required to show proof of at least one vaccination. This included employees.
Oddly, there is only a recommendation for being indoors at restaurants. Since most bar are really restaurant/bars, this leaves a gaping hole in the requirement. The county’s requirement that residents mask up in indoor public settings remain in place.
Barflies and employees are to have at least one vaccine dose by Oct. 7 and be fully vaccinated by Nov. 4.
Nearly 70% of Angelenos have been at least partially vaccinated.
Additionally, fans and workers at outdoor “mega events” with more than 10,000 attendees will also need to provide proof of vaccination or show that they’ve recently tested negative for coronavirus infection, starting Oct. 7. That means sporting events such as UCLA and USC college football games, LA Rams and LA Chargers NFL games and concerts must be vaccinated.
They already have to wear masks outdoors and there is no word on whether or not that will remain in place People already have to be vaccinated to attend indoor events of at least 1,000 people.
Some 93% of people admitted to the hospital with COVID have been unvaccinated. Most of the vaccinated people who have been hospitalized have compromised immune systems, and thus “are not able to mount a sufficient immune response after vaccination,” said Dr. Christina Ghaly, the county’s director of health services.
