Seasonal Pub Crawl Has Been Happening For 20 Years
One of the most creative events in a town with a lot of them is the 12 Bars of Christmas pub crawl in Hermosa Beach, CA.
It’s just what it sounds like, going to a dozen bars in one night dressed in holiday attire. The 2015 event was the 20th annual one and had more than 100 people visiting Sharkeez, Patrick Molloy’s, Fenners, The Deck, Mermaid, Standing Room, Chelsea Pub, the Underground, Mickey McCoolgans, Barnacles, Hennessey’s and The Lighthouse.
It’s always on the second Friday of December. Click here for details on the 2016 12 Bars of Christmas!
The 20th Annual Event One Of The Best
And for those who were at the 20th annual one in 2015, it was one of the best of the bunch.
The crowd was lively and fun and there was a good mix of girls to guys and the bars were jumping as a result. There were DJs, band at Standing Room and The Lighthouse, acoustic music at Hennessey’s and Mickeys, and a bunch of very merry people on and around the Hermosa Beach Pier.
It is an idea that was born on the streets of Chicago that was brought to the South Bay by a Chicagoan transplant.
Nearly everyone wears a Santa hat and others go all out, with outfits including some type of Santa pajamas on a guy, an outlandish Santa sportcoat and matching pants and girls in all kinds of sexy holiday costumes.
An annual highlight is the group photo in front of the Christmas tree on the Hermosa Beach pier. About the only thing missing is Santa’s sleigh!
Needless to say, the 12 Bars of Christmas livens up the scene quite a bit at the Hermosa Beach bars.
